Sustainability is at the forefront of every decision we make at omcha.
We only partner with tea farms that help their employees and ecosystems thrive. This means fair wages, sustainable growing methods and no pesticides or artificial fertilisers.
Our packaging materials are carefully selected, opting for home compostable, biodegradable, recyclable and/or recycled options. We design our packaging with reusability in mind and we never use plastic.
Through continuous learning and dedication to environmental stewardship, we aim to not only provide exceptional tea and teaware, but also leave a positive impact on the planet for generations to come.
Sustainable packaging
At omcha, we prioritise sourcing packaging that has been recycled to prevent new materials being made for our business. We source our materials from companies based in the UK to lessen transport emissions. Our tea packaging is designed with reusability in mind, and we encourage you to reuse your omcha tea tubes.
Labels
Biodegradable and compostable stickers made from Cane Fibre (Bagasse).
Silicone free, completely recyclable, wood free. Supporting a small business.
Card tubes
Our cardboard tubes are classified as FSC mixed sources, with 70% coming from recycled materials and 30% from FSC managed woods or reclaimed wood. This is the highest percentage of recycled materials we could find on the market. We buy from a UK based company who offset all transportation emissions through their One Tree Planted membership.
These tubes are food safe so you can use the tubes to store other foodstuffs if you choose.
Clear container bag inside tube
These clear cellulose bags are made from NatureFlex™ film that has been accredited compostable to 'BS EN 13432' and 'OK Compost'. They are also approved for Anaerobic digestion (ISO 15985). The film has also been tested to ensure that once composted there are no adverse (ecotoxic) effects on future plant growth to maintain a closed carbon loop.
NatureFlex™ film is made in the UK from cellulose derived from renewable wood pulp.
Paper for notes and labels
Made from 100% recycled post-consumer waste. 100% recyclable.
Sample tea bags
These bags are made from glassine paper, which is fully recyclable and compostable. Despite how glassine looks and feels, it is 100% paper and not coated or waxed, meaning it is fully recyclable as paper.
Packing boxes
100% recyclable materials. We reuse cardboard boxes to reduce waste, so if your Omcha box is a little scuffed on arrival, this is why. Thank you for helping us reduce waste and protect the planet.
Packing tape
Our paper tape is made from recycled materials, is biodegradable, recyclable and plastic-free.
Tissue paper
Our tissue paper is biodegradable, compostable and made from recycled paper.
Protective paper packaging
Made from 75% recycled paper, is fully biodegradable and recyclable.
